All great art is born from play.
I was opening my package of vine charcoal and a tiny chunk fell out onto my paper, and I chased it around with my pinky until it was all used up. And that’s how this painting began.
Little children at play are tuned into absolutely nothing but their own intuition. Outside expectations and influences are completely lost, and they are in a state of flow that some adults (like me!) spend their entire lives trying to tap into. I love my little children very fiercely. Through this painting, I honor the intellectual freedom in each of them and vow to keep it flowing as long as I can.
